COVID-19 Relief for Homeless Service Providers 

Now, more than ever, housing is healthcare. People experiencing homelessness are at extreme risk for COVID-19, living in crowded conditions or other unsheltered congregate settings where they are unable to isolate, quarantine, or recover. During this crisis, service providers have had to balance providing much-needed services to even more clients while also meeting new health guidelines. Extremely low-income renters, particularly people of color, are also at severe risk and face eviction and homelessness as their incomes decline due to job loss or reduced hours.

Housing Action has regranted $485,000 in COVID-19 relief funds—which we received from the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund and the National Low Income Housing Coalition—to support thirty direct service organizations throughout Illinois that are working to support individuals facing housing instability.
