Governor JB Pritzker will introduce his proposed budget for fiscal year 2025 on February 21, 2024.
Along with partners at Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, Illinois Shelter Alliance, and SHPA, we have developed an organizational sign-on letter to demonstrate widespread support for a $85 million increase in state funding for programs to prevent and end homelessness.
This new funding will allow the State of Illinois to keep making progress on the HOME Illinois plan to prevent and end homelessness. Our request includes meeting high priority needs for additional homeless prevention, emergency shelter, homeless youth and supportive housing programming.
Including $85 million in new funding in next year’s budget would bring the total increased funding for the HOME Illinois plan to $170 million over two years.
