Each year, our Housing Action Training Center brings a robust lineup of trainings for nonprofit housing professionals, with a specific focus on educating housing counselors.
We also host an annual conference, annual benefit, member events, webinars, and gatherings to educate participants about key housing issues and policy campaigns.

40th Anniversary Reunion & Kick-Off
We will launch our 40th anniversary year where it all began: the state capitol, where our founding members helped establish the Illinois Affordable Housing Trust Fund. Join longtime members, key partners, and today’s leaders to celebrate what four decades of coalition-building has made possible, and to set the course for what comes next.

An evening of celebration and community in Chicago. Housing Action’s signature fundraising event brings together nonprofit leaders, corporate partners, philanthropic supporters, and housing champions to mark 40 years of impact and invest in the next chapter. Regional Member Gathering
Housing Action takes its 40th anniversary celebration downstate, gathering members, staff, and board in Southern Illinois. This regional convening will create space for member organizations to share community insights and build cross-regional connections.

2027 Housing Matters
Our annual conference unites nearly 350 housing professionals, policymakers, lenders, and community development leaders for in-person learning, networking, and strategy. The 2027 conference will include special programming on the future of the affordable housing field, as well as recognition of the partners who helped build the movement.

Closing Celebration: Beyond 40

Scholarship Applications
Our Housing Action Training Center offers a limited number of training scholarships for housing counselors who work for HUD-approved agencies.
Reasonable Accommodations
Please submit all requests for reasonable accommodations when you register for a training. We will do our best to meet all requests, but to ensure that your request can be met, we ask that you let us know at least one week in advance. Questions?
Many of our trainings are now virtual, hosted through Zoom, enabling participants from across the nation to join us.

On-Demand Trainings
Recognizing the need for housing counselors to have flexible and dynamic learning opportunities, we’ve launched our first on-demand training opportunity, Compliance Matters: The 2024 Definitive HUD Data Compliance Course for HUD-Certified Housing Counselors.
Note: New enrollments for Compliance Matters are on pause to accommodate scheduled maintenance and updates, ensuring the course meets the highest standards and reflects the most current HUD requirements. We are excited to relaunch an updated, enhanced version of the course after the next HUD Handbook update.
