On May 20, the Illinois House Economic Development & Housing Committee, chaired by State Representative Marcus Evans, held a hearing titled Single Family Homeownership – Affordability, Stability and Economic Impact. Bob Palmer, Policy Director for Housing Action Illinois, testified at the hearing along with representatives from the Illinois Housing Development Authority, the Illinois Association of Realtors, Chicago Rehab Network, Bank & Trust Company, Community Bankers Association of Illinois and Windsor Development Group.
Bob’s testimony focused on some of Housing Action Illinois’ priorities for affordable and sustainable homeownership in the aftermath of the foreclosure crisis and the ensuing Great Recession, especially the importance of housing counseling.
