If the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is repealed and replaced, many of the one million Illinoisans who have insurance thanks to the ACA will lose it, and most everyone else will face higher costs.
The American Health Care Act, a bill just introduced by House Republicans, will do just that. The plan includes repealing broad parts of the ACA and making radical and harmful changes to Medicaid that would result in millions of people losing their health care.
Eliminating Medicaid expansion—or transitionining to a block grant or per-capita funding formula—would dramatically reduce resources that help people maintain their housing and are essential to many people ending their homelessness.
This is why, as a member of the Protect our Care – Illinois Coalition, Housing Action Illinois opposes repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Please join us in speaking up against the American Health Care Act:
TAKE ACTION to #ProtectOurCare by calling your Representative NOW, by dialing the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121, and demand that they stand strong in support of the ACA and do not vote to strip health care from millions.
