Since September 11, 2001, millions of Americans have come together with a common purpose to honor 9/11 and commemorate the tragedy through a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Each year, AmeriCorps VISTA members support this effort by organizing and participating in volunteer service events in their communities. Together, we represent a shared belief that by neighbor helping neighbor, we can make our country stronger and better for decades to come.
Yesterday morning, members from our VISTA Network and LAF volunteered at the 9/11 Heroes Run in Chicago. Our VISTAs handed out water and cheered on runners and walkers as they took steps to benefit veterans and the families of fallen heroes through the Travis Manion Foundation.
