Online Study Group for the HUD Exam: Version 3.0 – Virtual

Your preparation for the HUD certification exam starts here! Housing Action Illinois is back with another online study group series, and we’ve redesigned the training to be more interactive and adapt to the needs of each group of counselors joining the series. Join us to gear up for the test in a supportive, peer-learning environment. We will take a deep dive into the key points of each module, share critical test information, quiz you on what you’ve learned, and answer your most pressing questions about the exam.

Designing a Disaster Preparedness Program: What Non-Profits Should Know – Virtual
May 18–20 | 10:30 am–12:30 pm CDT (one session each day)
Disaster survivors need accurate information and lots of resources to cope with and fully recover from these emergencies. This class provides the necessary steps to follow as people go through recovery after a disaster. Join Housing Action Illinois and DRN to learn more about how to respond; how to work with clients/residents/consumers; how to follow up on things such as foreclosure avoidance, safety, insurance claims, and shelter; and working with resource agencies such as FEMA, the SBA, the GSEs, HUD, and others during and after disasters.

What You Should Know About Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) – Virtual

A home equity conversion mortgage (HECM) is a type of reverse mortgage that is insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Home equity conversion mortgages allow seniors to convert the equity in their home to cash. These reverse mortgages are increasing in popularity with senior homeowners who want to supplement their income. Join us to learn more about:
