Chris Auguste joined Housing Action as an Advocacy Organizer in January 2020 and will work closely with our Policy Director to implement our policy agenda, as well as working on outreach and engagement with our member organizations. Chris has a lengthy history of community organizing throughout Illinois; he has worked on grassroots, issue-based, union, educational, and political campaigns. He also has experience in social service programing and policy coordination, including drafting state legislation, which has given him a firsthand look at the rituals and rigors of policymaking in Illinois. Most recently, Chris worked in housing navigation with youth experiencing homelessness, during which he assisted with physical and mental health assessments to determine the need for additional aid.
Born and raised in the city of Chicago, Chris has been active in the community through neighborhood associations, councils, church, and school since an early age. Chris considers himself a social justice activist, agent of change, and public servant; he is passionate about work that raises up the voices of those not often heard.
Chris received his BA in Sociology and his Masters in Legal & Political Studies at the University of Illinois.
