Illinois is a coalition of affordable housing organizations using
research, advertising, media outreach, and organizing to raise
public awareness and encourage civic and political leadership
on behalf of affordable housing in communities throughout the
Chicago metropolitan region. Housing Action Illinois is a member.

Community Action Association
ICAA is
a membership organization which serves as the network for Illinois’ not-for-profit
corporations and units of government which strive to raise the
health, education and economic standards of Illinois’ low
income population. ICAA's 40 members serve every one of the 102
counties in the state of Illinois.
Illinois Assisted Housing Action Research Project
(IHARP)
IHARP is a project of the
Nathalie P. Voorhees Center for Neighborhood and Community Improvement
(a unit of the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs
at the University of Illinois at Chicago), Housing Action Illinois
and Latinos United. IHARP is the first comprehensive database of
assisted units in the city
of Chicago and the entire state of Illinois, including
housing owned and managed by private and non-profit developers.
The database contains information about the developments including
number of units, location, sponsoring agency, developer, management
companies, rent levels and funding sources. IHARP reports
on the HOME Program, the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program,
and Project-Based Section 8 properties are available at the above
link.

Provides lower-income and vulnerable Illinois residents with information about
their legal rights and responsibilities, referrals to free and low cost legal
aid offices, multimedia training and education, and forms and instructions
for representing themselves. Much information on housing issues
is available.

This
website is designed to guide and assist policy makers, housing/community
development professionals, planners, researchers, developers
and people seeking to buy or rent a home. The website will make
available a wealth of data and information about the housing
environment in Chicago and other communities throughout the region.
Leadership
Council for Metropolitan Open Communities
The
Leadership Council’s mission is "to eliminate all
forms of discrimination and segregation that impede open housing
in the Chicago region." To achieve this purpose, the Leadership
Council operates a number of programs, including legal action,
housing counseling, education, and advocacy.
Metropolitan
Tenants Organization
MTO
is a coalition of community organizations and individuals dedicated
to safe, decent affordable housing for all. In particular they
work on projects that support the self-help efforts of tenants
to exercise their rights. They operate a tenants rights hotline,
train community-based organizations, organize buildings and participate
in affordable housing advocacy campaigns. |
