The Need

Community-based nonprofits often lack the individual capacity and resources to positively impact public policy.

Solution

Housing Action Illinois organizes community-based nonprofits working on affordable housing issues to have a collective voice, sharing their experience and ideas to actively influence state and federal housing policy.  We organize issue-specific working groups, meetings with legislators, and an annual conference creating a forum for our members to share their knowledge and experience to inform public policy.

Benefit and Impact

Supported by Housing Action Illinois, the collective power and influence of our members and allies to influence public policy is more fully realized.  As a result, low-income households throughout Illinois benefit from having access to more affordable housing resources.
