Andrew Kuka is a fellow with Housing Action Illinois through the Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development at Illinois State University. He holds a bachelors degree in Sociology from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
After graduation, Andrew completed two AmeriCorps terms of service. The first was with the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) based out of Vinton, IA, where he worked with a team to complete a variety of service projects with Midwestern nonprofits and government agencies over 11 months. His second term of service was with Rebuilding Together in Bergen County NJ, where he supervised and directly aided in the repair of homes affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Andrew is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sociology and researching issues surrounding pedestrianism, sensory experience, and meanings of place.
